Street Fighter IV may come to Wii?
July 30, 2008
The producer of SFIV was recently interviewed at the San Diego Comic Con.
Right now we know Street Fighter IV will come out on three home platforms, but have you thought about the Wii at all?
YO: The more people that ask about it, the more likely we are to move in that direction. The very existence of Street Fighter IV was based on people asking about it for so long. If we get a lot of requests it will be something we will think about. It might be difficult to reproduce the graphics exactly as they are, but the gameplay should be completely intact. It’s something we can think about.
Red Steel 2 to feature Wii Motion Plus
July 28, 2008
Speaking exclusively to gameindustry.biz, Alan Corre said that Red Steel 2 would feature Wii Motion Plus.
Red Steel 2 has been in development for many months now, and this new device will help us be even more precise in what we do with the product.
The Red Steel brand is strong – I think we released it on year one, and that people understood that it was a first try on new technology, technology that wasn’t completely finished. And our game tried to grab the best out of it, and was a bit rushed to be sure to offer something in year one to Wii consumers.
So Red Steel is a brand, and as with every brand we have, we now have to reach the top quality possible. What was missing was the preciseness of the sabre – and with this new device I think it will change the experience.
Ubisoft are one of the first third-party developers to announce the support for Wii Motion Plus, and, as quoted, are working with Wii Motion Plus to benefit the experience people will have with the game. Swordplay with the MotionPlus would be very greatly benefited. Although I’ve yet to play the original Red Steel, I’m still quite excited for this game.
SEGA give Samba, Yakuza 2 and Sonic Chronicles Dates!
July 25, 2008
Today, SEGA of Europe have announced the release dates for 3 games that I am looking forward too. Samba De Amigo on the Wii and Yakuza 2 on the PlayStation 2 will be arriving in Europe on the 19th of September, and Sonic Chronicles on the DS will arrive a week later on the 26th of September. I’d have to see some reviews before I decide whether to buy one or two of them or not, but there all pretty big games.
Sonic Chronicles will arrive 4 days later in North America, and a precise release date for Japan and Australia is yet to be announced. According to Amazon, Samba De Amigo on the Wii will arrive in North America on the 23rd of September. Yakuza 2 arrived nearly 2 years ago in Japan, and will be making its way to North America on the 9th of September.
I recently found out that Samba De Amigo will be the first game on the Wii to feature Downloadable Content. Activision said GHII would, but guess what? They lied. =\ I’m pretty late on reporting this, but here’s the trailer.
Reggie says “Wii Storage a Mainstream Problem”
July 25, 2008
In an interview with MTV Multiplayer, Reggie talked about the Wii Storage.
Multiplayer: One of the other things about hardware is that there’s been a lot of questions about the state of storage for the system. There was the retracted comment about “geeks and otaku” from the representative form Nintendo of Europe. But there are people who are downloading WiiWare games and finding that they are running out of room. There are channels in Mario Kart and Wii Fit that take up storage space. DLC coming for “Guitar Hero: World Tour” that’s going to have to be put on SD cards if you want to have a lot of music. Clearly there are a lot of reasons to provide extra storage. Are you guys planning on providing extra storage?
Fils-Aime: We have said publicly that we’re looking hard at the storage situation, that we’re working on a range of solutions. We have nothing to announce now. But certainly it’s an issue we are aware of and we’re working to find a solution and we will.
Multiplayer: Are you hearing this complaint mostly from — and let’s use a nicer comment than “geeks and otaku” — more from hardcore gamers than from your expanded blue ocean audience?
Fils-Aime: From an Americas-centric perspective, here is the reality we see. We have a consumer base who loves virtual console. We have a userbase who really is enjoying WiiWare content. So for us really our challenge really is how do we satisfy all these consumers who are loving all of the product we make available on a download basis? As we continue to have things, as you point out, like ‘Mario Kart’ that has its own channel when you’re playing from an Internet perspective, we’re just making this challenge tougher and tougher. So in our view this is becoming much more of a mainstream problem, which is why we have a sense of urgency to solve it.
Captain Rainbow & Wii Music Dated in Japan!
July 24, 2008
Wii Music and Captain Rainbow have both been dated in Japan. According to this post on the NeoGaf Forums, a Nintendo event being held in Japan today, and Wii Music and Captain Rainbow have been dated in Japan. Oh yeah, and something about coloured wrist straps. It would be nice for some people, but I personally wouldn’t buy them.
Wii Music’s Japanese release date is the 16th of October this year. The game will feature Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection in some form, and will be part of the Touch Generation. It’s priced at 5,800 yen.
Captain Rainbow will be making its way to Japan on the 28th of August, at a price of 6,800 yen.
The Wii Straps will have new colours, as I’ve mentioned before, and they will come in white, pink, blue and green at launch. They will be released in September for 1,000 yen. I don’t have a clue how much that is, so I don’t know whether I can say “RIP-OFF!!!!11″ or not.
Wario Land EU Boxart Unvieled + Dated in AU!
July 24, 2008
Not big news, but the box art for EU is awesome enough to tell you about.

The game was released in Japan, and, as I’ve said in a previous post (but just incase your wondering) Wario Land’s Wii game is called “The Shake Dimension”.
Australia’s release date for the game is, like a lot of Nintendo games now-a-days, a day before the European release date. So, it’s released on the 25th September this year.
Sonic The Hedgehog Review + NOTICE
July 22, 2008
In 1991, SEGA released Sonic the Hedgehog for the SEGA Mega Drive (Genesis in the US). Sonic was SEGA’s answer to Mario, and what seperated him from other platformers is that he was about speed. Like Mario, Sonic was the mascot of SEGA, and, as a mascot, he’s the first thing you’ll think of when you think of SEGA. But in recent years, the name Sonic hasn’t been quite as great as it once was in terms of games. But I’m not going to be reviewing the newer games. I’m here to review the original Sonic the Hedgehog for the SEGA Mega Drive!
The story of Sonic The Hedgehog is that Dr Robotnik, or Eggman as he is now known, is attempting to take all 6 chaos emeralds (changed to 7 in the later games). They’re scattered across six different zones, each one with three acts. At the third act of every zone, there’s a boss battle against Dr Robotnik.
The gameplay of Sonic is basically a combination of speed and collecting rings. Rings are used for three things in this game. 1) For more chances of completing the game. If you get hit with rings, the rings will scatter, and you’ll be able to pick up some of them. But if you get hit with no rings, you’ll lose a life. 2) If you get to the end of the Act with 50 coins, there will be a giant ring. Jump through the ring to retrieve a chaos emerald. 3) Get 100 coins and you’ll be rewarded with a new life. There are three power-ups in the game. The shield, which prevents Sonic from losing coins when hit. However, with the shield, you still need to be cautious, as being hit with the shield will result in you losing the shield. Faster boots, which allow you to run even faster, and Invinsibility, which is basically a Starman from Super Mario Bros, but instead of the Starman theme, the Sonic the Hedgehog title theme plays. At the end of an act, you get a Time Bonus, a Ring Bonus and points you get from killing enemies, all of which is took into an overall score.
There a lot of secret passages that you can take in Sonic the Hedgehog, leading you to either a power-up, extra life or just straight to another part of the map. Some are easy to find, and some are harder. Some shortcuts have hints next to them, like a particular shortcut in Spring Yard Zone, while some will be found through luck, like one through the wall in Marble Zone.
The game’s music is amazing. In a game I recently reviewed (Super Smash Bros Brawl), the ORIGINAL version of the Green Hill Zone music from this game was used as the default song for the Green Hill Zone stage. Now some people will think of this as lazy, but it’s not, it’s aged VERY well, and brings back great nostalgia for Sonic the Hedgehog on the Genesis. And it’s not just the Green Hill Zone music that’s aged well. It’s every piece of music in the game! That’s how great the music here is. My personal favourite piece is the Green Hill Zone theme, closely followed by the Boss Battle theme.
This is the Sonic game before all of the other characters. This was just you, facing off against Robotnik. No Tails. No Knuckles. The only thing standing in your way of reching Robotnik is the amazingly designed zones and the enemies. I don’t think there’s much of an excuse for you nor to have the game. It’s on the majority of SEGA consoles, XBLA, the Wii’s VC, I could go on. You should definitely set aside a few Wii points/LIVE Points/Real money or whatever to buy this game because it is well worth it. The game is from the glory days of Sonic, before it turned in to the host of many horrible games. The only console I wouldn’t reccomend getting this on is the GBA, as I’ve heard nothing but bad things about the game.
Overall: 9.0
NOTICE: I’m going to attempt to beat all of my VC games so I can review them, so keep checking for more reviews. I hope to complete Super Metroid soon. This may be delayed a bit due to my Smash Bros. Brawl addiction. I may be getting a capture card soon, so (if I do) I’ll be uploading some videos for your viewing pleasure (gameplay vids, playthroughs, etc).
Sonic & The Black Knight Confirmed!
July 21, 2008
Well, I wrote about it yesterday, but it’s now been confirmed as real by SEGA. The game’s story will be told in a storybook fashion, like Sonic & The Secret Rings, but it’s not actually a sequel to the game. The game takes place in a medieval world, where Sonic is armed with a sword. Instead of using just the Wii-mote, players will use the Wii remote and Nunchuck combo. It is being developed by the Sonic Team in Japan, and will make full use of the Wii’s control scheme. It’s a Wii exclusive.

An image of the next issue of Nintendo Power reveals a new Sonic game coming exclusive to the Wii, called “Sonic & The Black Knight”.

Sonic & The Black Knight
The artwork looks to good to be fake, but we’ll have to wait until scans of the magazine are uploaded for more details. If it’s nearly as good as Sonic Unleashed looks, then I’m happy.
Wario Land Update
July 17, 2008
The website has been updated and now the bar at the bottom is complete. The first update contains a map of some of the areas to be seen in Wario Land, with a description. Unfortunately, I can’t quote the description because I can’t speak Japanese.
These are the screenshots for one of the areas, so if you want to see them all, go to the website.
The last update has a gallery of movies. The first movie shows a Level Select screen and the second shows him coming out of the warp place and shows actual gameplay. The third level is more gameplay, but shows some kind of pixie-like creature telling Wario where he has to go. And the 4th one shows a shop where Wario can spend coins he has earned throughout the game, presumably on special abalities.
Here is a link to the website.
